A quick weight loss diet when you need to shed pounds quickly is not the kind of diet that will help you lose the weight permanently unless you use it as a platform for the kind of weight loss diet that encompasses a full range of lifestyle changes. The fastest way to lose five pounds is not the best way to keep it off long-term, but it can be an excellent way to motivate yourself for the months of lifestyle changes ahead.

Fast

Your first step should be to eliminate every food item that is not a liquid or raw fruit or vegetable. A true liquid fast might not be fulfilling enough to help you get through forty-eight hours, so eating raw fruits and vegetables such as apples, oranges and carrots will give you the satisfaction of chewing at least.

 

Your fast should include plenty of water, tea – preferably green tea, and fruit juices made without sugar or preservatives. Fresh squeezed juices are best. If you have opted to include fruits and vegetables, you can eat those at meal times or as you feel the need.

Sleep

A long stretch of sleep will also help your body to process foods and rid yourself of waste. Drink plenty of fluids and go to bed early enough that you body gets a solid night of sleep and you wake up with your body’s work for the night complete. It often takes a full night for your body to process foods and fluids through the body.

It’s very possible that you have pounds of digesting food waiting for removal through your colon. The fruit juices and fiber from the fruit you are eating will help to move these through, but a true supplement-based colon cleansing might very well remove additional plaque and other toxins that have been stored in your colon and large intestine.

Exercise

The fast will deplete much of your natural energy stores, but do as much exercise as possible. Walking is an easy one to do. Walking will help to boost your metabolism and burn more calories. With you consuming so few calories over a forty-eight hour period, this can translate into a few pounds of weight loss.

Warnings, Advice, and Suggestions

When you stop your fast, you’ll regain much of the water weight you’ve lost over the following week. This is normal, but if you use your success on the scales as a starting point for more long-term plans you will find great success.
