There is much evidence as to the benefits of green tea, but many people fail to realize that green tea drunk from a heavily processed and high sugary substance does not contain the same number of benefits. To get the optimum green tea benefits, you must make the tea from the loose tea leaf.
Bring Water to a Boil
Use fresh or bottled water to make tea. If you are using tap water, let it run for a few seconds before taking water for the tea. The best tasting tea comes from the best tasting water. Boil the water in a tea kettle.
Warm the Container
You should also warm the container you’ll be using to serve your tea. Most often this is a tea pot or a tea cup. You can warm the tea pot by pouring in a bit of boiling water and covering the tea pot with a cozy.
Place Tea Leaves in an Infuser
Unless you’re using fresh tea bags, which you really shouldn’t for maximum benefits, you’ll need to place the tea leaves into an infuser. If you don’t have an infuser or strainer, you can also simply place the leaves at the bottom of the teapot. This actually can give your tea a better flavor. You should use one heaped teaspoon of leaves for each cup of tea you plan to make. The amount of tea leaves you use will affect the flavor of the tea, so add more for stronger flavor or less for a weaker taste.
Add Hot Water
To make ideal green tea, you should use the direct proportion of water to spoonfuls of tealeaves. If you spooned in two scoops of leaves, add two cups of hot water. The ideal water temperature for green tea is well below boiling at 170-185 F. To achieve this, turn off the stove under the boiling water and let it sit for a minute before pouring.
Steep the Tea Leaves
Steep the tea leaves according to instructions on the box and leave the tea pot covered during this time to keep it warm. A minute or two should suffice for weak tea and stronger teas require more steeping.
Remove the Tea Leaves
Pour the tea through a strainer to remove the tea leaves as you serve the tea. Enjoy!

Warnings, Advice, and Suggestions
You can add milk or lemon to tea, but never add both – the milk will curdle. Pick one or the other to use.
