If you’re using press releases as effective marking tools, know that there is a big difference between a basic press release and one that actually gets the job done. To improve your press release you’ll want to revisit the purpose of the release and then get comfortable with you news and your audience.

Remember that a Press Release is News – Not a Promotion

A press release isn’t an article and it isn’t a sales page. It shouldn’t read much like either one. A press release is a formal style of writing to convey news to the media including bloggers who will then repeat it to your desired audience. You’re writing for news outlets in a sense, not necessarily your end customer.

The general thought is to get the article from your computer into a news column to then reach a huge viewership. Sometimes press releases generate follow-up interviews and news conferences and sometimes they are syndicated across the web. If you want your release to be ignored you need only forget your purpose and write it like a self-congratulatory promotional article. Nobody will touch it.

Promote through Quotations Only

The quotes from the owner or employee used in the writing are the places to hype the new product or the event. Use these quotes as your promotional message and include the details that are too much hype to fit into the just-the-facts-please content everywhere else. You can usually include two quotations, but you might be able to get away with three if they are short or your press release is especially long.

Easy Step By Step Instructions For Writing a Press Release

Always remember that a press release is almost a news article – not promotional copy or opinions.

Write for your audience – journalists and bloggers who might turn this news around and post it in their respective mediums.

Use quotations to promote your product or service – talk it up naturally, of course.

Warnings, Advice, and Suggestions When Writing a Press Release

When submitting a press release, you do far better to submit to a single paid submission site than endless free press release sites. Releases your PR to a free site is akin to saying that it doesn’t really matter and you’re doing it for back links. You’ll be lucky to get those and you certainly won’t get much attention otherwise.

Love hurts sometimes, and to be quite honest, so does “like.” But whether you loved him or just liked him, many relationships eventually break up and it’s time to move on. Moving on can be a challenge, through – especially if this was your first serious relationship.

Come to Terms with the Relationship

You don’t have to play games in your head about the relationships. Go back through your pictures and letters and look at what really happened to the two of you. It might be that you were growing apart for months and you just didn’t realize it at the time. Or perhaps you were only together because neither one of you wanted to be the one to end it. Whatever happened, lay it all out for yourself and try to figure out how you feel about it. Of course you’re hurt and sad, but is there a feeling underneath? Jealousy? Anger? Fear? Relief? The more you know about you, the easier recovery will be.

Call in the Professionals

You can tackle a wasp nest with special sprays, but there aren’t special sprays for bees, plus there’s the sticky problem of the wax left behind. A bee hive is dangerous, and it’s almost impossible to tell the difference between European and Africanized bees. Stay away from the hive and call in a professional for Phoenix bee removal. Explain that you’ve seen bees coming in and out of a particular area and ask them to come out for an inspection and removal.

Protect Others

It’s important to let others in the area know that you have a problem with bees as they can be dangerous not just to you, the home owner, but also to neighbors, deliverymen and pets. Make some quick phone calls or knock on the doors around you to warn off the neighbors – especially children who might think it would be fun to agitate the bees. Be sure to let them know when the professionals are coming to remove the hive so that everyone can stay well away from any danger.

Easy Step By Step Instructions For Removing Bee Hives

Watch the bees around your home to see if and where you have a problem.

Call local bee keepers to see if they would like to come and take your bees away.

Call in the professionals to remove the bees, hive and any honey created.

Be sure to keep neighbors and others in the area aware of the problem and take precaution with pets.

Warnings, Advice, and Suggestions When Removing a Bee Hive

Africanized bees are nicknamed killer bees because they are more aggressive in defending their hive. So long as you stay away from their swarm, there isn’t a need to panic over the bees or pay a rushed fee.

The internet is a wealth of information; but it is also an easy way to get scammed. Checking for creditable websites is easy and worth taking the time to do before you hand over any of your hard earned money.

Investigate Websites for Scam Indicators

There are certain elements that make it obvious a scam is part of a website. These elements include:

Fees of any type

Testimonials that only have initials, partial name

Promises or guarantees of a better life style, love, money, lottery, or sweepstakes

Jobs offered on line

Work at home scams are on the rise too. Again, you should be wary if you are asked to pay up front; the home page viewed is nothing but testimonials or if nothing is mentioned of the product or service unless you buy the product. To top this scam off, if you clicked on the message or website you better have excellent spyware installed to stop future barrages of pop ups or viruses.

When shopping online be alert for the lock box symbol usually located at the bottom of the page. It is there for your security and means it is a secured site. Check scams are always too good to be true – before you cash a check or do any transactions with a check, call the bank who supposedly issued the check to find out if is legitimate and/or investigate the website or email. Again, if money is requested out of your own pocket first, it is a scam – DO NOT DO IT!

Use Your Instincts

Go with your gut feeling, intuition, or the hair raising reaction some people get on the back of their neck. If something raises your suspicion, just DO NOT DO IT! Protect yourself and most importantly, protect yourself and your computer with spyware, phishing filter, or anti virus software. Remember, if a website is unknown then don’t open the website.

Take time to do the research! If you want or need to open a website, Google the company to determine if a company is reputable. You can find blogs about the company or complaints on the company. Google “Common Online Scams” and there will be a list of them or check the Better Business Bureau website. I never give out my name or any other personal information if unsure.

Making the Cut

When cutting the cigar, place the cigar into the correct cutting position against the blades before actually cutting to keep it in place during the cut and to be sure you’re positioned correctly. Cut the cigar quickly and confidently to prevent tearing.

Lighting a Cigar

A cigar is not like a cigarette – you don’t hold the end of the cigar directly in the flame. Hold the flame just under the cigar, but don’t let them touch. Rotate the cigar so that all parts of it are heated equally over the flame. Once the end of the cigar is glowing steadily, your cigar is lit properly and is ready for action. Take the first puff and blow it out through the cigar to avoid any unsavory elements from the lighting process before puffing the cigar correctly.

Easy Step By Step Instructions for Lighting a Cigar

Select a fine, hand-rolled cigar for the best light and enjoyment

Cut the cigar using a specialized cutting tool to get the best possible cut and draw

Light the cigar using a method similar to roasting a marshmallow

Enjoy your cigar!

Warnings, Advice, and Suggestions When Lighting a Cigar

If your cigar goes out, it’s far better to relight it while it is warm than wait and relight it later. Saving part of a cigar for later can lead to harsh flavors.

Preparing ahead of time with a well stocked medical cabinet is as simple as knowing what you’d likely need and finding it ahead of time.

Get the Bare Essentials of a Medical Stash

The very bare essentials for most homes are a pain and fever reliever such as Tylenol or Aspirin, band-aids, a cleansing agent such as hydrogen peroxide and maybe Neosporin. So long as you have something to clean a small wound, stop the flow of blood and take away the pain, you’ll be the norm for a stocked medical cabinet.

Add Other Common Items to Your Small Medical Cabinet

Other items that are often used with injuries and illness include a medicine to settle the stomach such as Pepto-Bismol, an allergy medication such as Claritin, a cold medicine such as Dayquil, and useful tools like cotton balls and Q-tips. Depending on the type of lifestyle you lead and your general health, you might also find it common to have items such as gauze, large bandages, butterfly sutures, intense pain relievers, decongestants, and medications for PMS.

Add Specialty Items to the Medical Cabinet

If you know you have special medical conditions that pop up from time to time, such as allergy hives, you’d want to be sure you have the right medications on hand to treat them. An allergy medication to tackle hives would make sense. Likewise any medication for boil treatment, warts, cracked skin or severe migraines would want to be included in the medicine cabinet well before you’d be in need of the medicine.

Easy Step By Step Instructions for Stocking a Medicine Cabinet

Add the bare essentials of a medicine cabinet including band aids and pain reliever

Add other common elements such as allergy medicine and cold medications

Add special items to your medical stash to suit your particular needs

Warnings, Advice, and Suggestions When Stocking Your Medicine Cabinet

Most items in the medicine cabinet, with the exception of cotton balls, band aids and Q-tips have an expiration date. Be sure to check the dates of your medications periodically to be sure they haven’t expired.

But unless you’re a man of style, it can be a bit challenging to know what to do once you have your room marked as the man cave.

Add Furniture and Soft Items

If your room isn’t carpeted, your first step is to add a rug and some soft items such as a large fabric sofa. Consider adding manly curtains and even a few bean-bags or chairs to give you something to sit on and a way to keep the room from echoing. You don’t want to crank up a new television in a room that’s empty or you’ll have plenty of feedback.

Add Electronics to the Man Cave

The next step for most men is to add their electronics. Start with a basic entertainment center, even if you’re mounting your television. The entertainment center will house your game systems, DVD player, and even fun specialty items such as a Sansui Receiver that you can show off your friends.

Add Decorative Items

Your room now probably consists of an entertainment center and a television – more than enough to keep most of us happy, but you’ll want to add a bit more to showcase your personal style and your unique taste. Your decorative items might include special bottles you’ve collected or all of your sports memorabilia. If you don’t have a current collection, start one – Frame movie posters for your favorite films or put up a few pictures of your kids. A man cave should be lived in and home-line – not an empty room with a television in it.

The trouble for most individuals is a lack of space for a home office rather than the lack of desire. Fortunately, a home office can fit just about anywhere.

Designate a Work Space

For tax purposes and for your own sanity you should have a work space entirely dedicated to your new home office. This can be a room, but doesn’t have to be. You can use a closet with the doors removed or a corner of another room. Just be sure that the space is dedicated if you’re using it for work and plan to take a tax deduction.

Set up a Desk and Shelves

Add a desk and some shelves for storage to your home office. Your desk can be a folding table with a file cabinet underneath or a desk purchased from a big box store. Add shelves above or to the side of the desk to give you more working space and a place to store the books and other items that accumulate in an office.

Buy a Computer and Accessories

Research the best computer for you and then make a purchase. From an Acer laptop to a Sony Vaio PCG, you’ll find a huge selection of computers that might be more than what you need or just right. Be sure to buy the computer that makes sense for your business and plan ahead for a few years to be sure you have the right power and memory that you need moving forward in the business.

Buy Other Office Supplies

A home office doesn’t just need a computer and a desk. Be sure to buy stamps, pens, pencils, a ruler, a stapler, file folders, labels and all of the other items you’ll need to keep your office functioning well without making a run to the store every time you need printer paper or a large envelope. The shelves you added to your office and some folding boxes can keep these items organized and attractive.

Buy Your Office Chair

One of the last items you’ll add to your office, your chair should be a comfortable place for you to sit for hours at a time. The office chair should fit in the space you have and be comfortable enough to sit in for hours at time.

Easy Step By Step Instructions for Setting Up a Small Home Office

Designate a space for the home office

Buy or build a desk to use in your home office

Buy a computer and accessories such as a printer for the new office

Buy other supplies and store them on shelves or in drawers

Buy an office chair for the office

Warnings, Advice, and Suggestions When Setting Up a Home Office

Include enough space in your home office to move easily. If you’re wedged into a small corner and can’t push your chair back or stretch over your head, you’ll be hard-pressed to work comfortably. Find an area where you have adequate space for the office.
