If you are not interested in genetic engineering or artificial insemination, there is no certain way of conceiving one gender versus the other. There are, however, various theories about how to increase your chances of a specific gender.
Selecting a Baby’s Gender
According to surveys more than 90% of expectant parents have a preference in regard to their unborn child’s gender. The reasons behind the preferences are varied, and when parents don’t get their wish, they adapt and are overjoyed to welcome any new baby to their home. But if you are ready for a baby girl and want to try to tip the scales, here’s how:
The Shettles Method
Doctor Shettles penned the most popular method designed to increase the chances of a girl. Before beginning the method, you must understand the rationale behind it. Women produce an egg every month during ovulation. The egg is always carrying an X chromosome. Two Xs make a girl and one X (the egg) plus one Y make a boy.
Men are responsible for the second X or Y. Each sperm is assigned one chromosome. When a male ejaculates, he sends 200-400 million sperm into the vagina that immediately begin searching for the released egg. Out of those millions, only one sperm gets the prize, and the chromosome of that one unites with the X of the egg, and the miracle has begun.
The Shettles method offers instruction on how to get more X-carrying sperm to the egg and beat out the Ys.
Conceiving a Girl
To actively work at conceiving a girl, you must know your cycle. Chart your cycle for a couple of months to see what day you begin your period and what day you are ovulating. You can do this using an ovulation kit or basal temperature. Then, once you know the day you will ovulate, begin having sex immediately following the end of your period. Have sex at least once a day until two or three days before ovulation. Then stop. (Sorry, guys.)
Y-carrying sperm swim faster than X-carrying sperm. The boy-makers also tend to die out more quickly. By stopping three days before ovulation, you are ensuring the only sperm left waiting around for the released egg are the longer-lasting, slow-swimming X-carriers. (Sperm can live up to 5-7 days inside a woman’s body.) When the remaining sperm meet up with the egg, it is far more likely an X sperm will get the honors.
Doctor Shettles also suggests having sex in the missionary position to deposit sperm as close to the entrance of the vagina as possible. He also suggests the woman not orgasm during sex (Sorry, girls.) An orgasm can make the vaginal environment alkaline which can kill off sperm more quickly preventing any pregnancy.

I too have two amazing sons. My husband and I thought two was going to be it for us but have changed our minds! He says the next one will be a boy just like the first two. He called the last two and was right. I wonder if his mental strength plays into all this! LOL! My wife and i have been trying for years to have a baby, were new at this, and so very much would love to have a child. Some say 2 days before ovulation, and some say 2 days after. Hi. I was watching the Doctor’s on TV and the gyno/ob was speaking about this exact topic. If you have a 28 day cycle then you want to have sex 2 days prior to your ovulation, which is 15 days after your menstral cycle. You also want to have sex on ovulation day and 2 days after. This will ensure the process.

I think that wasnt a very good decision to have abortion at all. Children are a gift from God and destroying that life can haunt you for the rest of your life. Next time never ever opt for that kind of decision its not good and also life-treatining.
i agree with you… my opinion is that if you are going to have sex at all u take the chance of getting pregnant… when i got pregnant for my second son i was shocked because it truly was bad timing…not to mention we werent financially ready for a second child but we made that baby and today i have a healthy happy and very much alive 3 year old son… not being able to “afford” him just ment that we had to make sacrifices to be able to support our children and thats what we did… i think abortion is never a option especially for a child u made… i think the only way i would condone abortion is if the pregnancy was putting the mothers life at risk and that was the ONLY way to save her life… and i have even thought about it in rape cases but even then there are ways to prevent it before it happens. The law that supports abortion states that it is a womans right to not be inconvenienced by an unwanted pregnancy… but i believe that if pregnancy is an inconvenience then to avoid it she needs to be inconvenienced by getting on birth control… at least try to prevent it… and i would have to ask any woman who has had an abortion 2 questions… 1. how would u feel to know ur parents considered sucking you out with a vacuum while you were in the womb and 2. how can u honestly consider trying to get pregnant again regardless what gender of child u wanted when you could have very well aborted that son or daughter… its called responsibility and its time some of us accept it… and adoption is always better than taking a life away from an innocent child because of selfishness…

first i would just like to say, congratulations on your 2 beautiful boys. i know that an abortion must have been a very difficult decision, but can’t that also be a bit pricey. if you couldn’t afford another child at that time, adoption is always a very good and highly respected option. that child could have been a doctor or a scientist that cured some sort of cancer and now the world will never know.
When I get old enough to have a baby, I strongly hope to have a little girl. I grew up in a household with women only, (my mom and dad got divorced when I was 21 months old, and I’m an only child) and I couldn’t even talk to boys until last year (I am 16.) I just feel that I won’t be able to properly relate to a little boy and understand his wants and needs. A girl would also be a lot more fun for me, but I’ll love my child either way! ^_^

no. you cannot change the sex of your baby. female carry XX males carry XY. females give one x males give either Y or X. if 2 X’s combine you have a girl baby. if X and Y combine, you have a boy baby. there is no changing it. it’s there from the very start.

ive read up on a bunch of things about this and the shettles theory and they all are based around the same thing.
*the X-carrying sperm are slower moving but live longer.
*the Y-carrying sperm are faster and yet they die off(perish, sorry for the lack of better word)
so therefore to conceive a girl, have sex from the last day of your period up until about 2 1/2 3 days before your ovulation day.
for a boy, try on the exact day of ovulation.
there are also “girl diets” and “boy diets” .

theres a chance what you do can choose the gender of your baby.
unless you go to a doctor and have them separate the male from the female, just hope, but either way, be happy either way. just as long as its healthy.

i don’t know how any mother could have a child that they carry under their heart for a total of a true 10 months or 40 weeks could just give their child up for adaption and go on with there life if i was to do that i would never forgive myself. Gosh everyone is having two boys lol anyway the only reason im typing here is to say that an abortion is murder it is a living thing thing with a soul and how to you think god would think about that anyway i want my first child to be a girl but i still be happy either way oh and if your trying to get pregnant try fertility treatments or ivf but be sure you want to do it because it increases your hormones and increases your chances of releasing an egg but if your already fertile it can result in multiples people taking fertility treatments have a 1 in 555 people getting quadruplets or more good luck to you all
