set up ipod

IPods are the new hot item to own. An IPod is a device that allows you to store music and even movies onto a portable device (think walkman). IPods come in a variety of sizes, shapes and colors and range in price from about $60 all the way up to around $400, depending on the style and amount of memory. The general rule of thumb is around 250 songs per Gb.

Connecting Your IPod

Once you have purchased your IPod, you will need to connect to device to a computer. IPods come with a USB cable and a set of headphones. The USB cable attaches at one end to the IPod and into the USB port on the back of your computer. (The port has a logo that looks like almost like a tree). Once the IPod is connected to your computer it will be able to charge and “sync” with the files you have.

Download iTunes

You will need to go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/ to download a program called iTunes. This program not only allows you to purchase music and movies if you want, but also converts any music or CDs you have on your computer to a language that the IPod can understand and communicate with. iTunes will allow you to convert existing files and CDs to a format that can be transferred to your IPod. The website also allows you to ensure that your computer has all the drivers needed to communicate with your IPod and that the IPod is current with any updated programs and software.

Easy Step By Step Instructions For Setting Up an IPod
  • Determine what type of IPod you need. Are you going to be listening to music only or would you like to be able to access that internet or watch videos?
  • Once you have purchased the IPod, connect it to your computer using the USB cable provided. This will charge the IPod and allow you to put music onto the IPod.
  • You are able to organize you music files on your desktop into folders that will then be transferred to your Itunes account. This makes it very simple to create different playlists and folders of music or just a mix of the music you have on your computer.

Warnings, Advice, and Suggestions When Setting Up Your IPod

Your IPod does not come charged so if you open the box and it won’t turn on, it isn’t defective, it just has a dead battery. Get a good quality case for your IPod to protect it from damage. Remember, it is a little computer and if it is dropped will more than likely be damaged.

How To Clean a Power Juicer

Health nuts everywhere are turning to the Power Juicer to make their healthy concoctions. Carrots, strawberries, tomatoes, grapefruits are essential to good health, but if your Power Juicer is not cleaned properly, you may shorten the life of your juicer…even worse, you could become ill. To keep your Power Juicer working efficiently, it needs to be thoroughly cleaned after each use. The typical Power Juicer review finds that cleaning the juicer is truly the only complicated part of maintaining a healthier life style. Don’t let this stand in the way when cleaning is actually quite simple.

Gather Power Juicer Cleaning Ingredients

Find the various supplies you’ll need to thoroughly clean your juicer. You’ll need:

* Mild dish washing detergent
* Lemon juice or white vinegar
* Soft dishtowel
* Soft-bristle dishwashing brush
* Soft cleaning cloth

Stop and Disassemble Your Power Juicer

Make sure the Power Juicer is turned off and then unplug the Power Juicer from the outlet. Allow the motor to stop and cool completely. When the motor has stopped, disassemble the Power Juicer being sure to keep up with all of the pieces.

Soak, Scrub and Clean The Power Juicer

Clean the pusher, lid, pulp collector in warm, soapy water and rinse with warm water. Set these pieces aside to dry. If there are stains made from high color fruits inside the juicer use a soft cloth with a small amount of white vinegar or lemon juice to remove it. These stains will not affect the sanitary conditions of the Power Juicer, however. Use warm running water and a soft-bristle dish brush to gently remove any pulp from the filter.

Dry the Power Juicer

Dry all parts with a dish cloth and reassemble. Plug in the Power Juicer and turn the juicer on to spin out remaining water. Then, use a damp cloth to wipe the outside of the base. Finally, allow all components of the juicer to dry completely before putting away.

Easy Step By Step

  • Assemble the items you need to clean the juicer effectively.
  • Turn off the juicer and disassemble it
  • Wash and rinse the juicer components.
  • Scrub out stains.
  • Clean the filter
  • Dry all components

Warnings, Advice, and Suggestions

Place a plastic bag inside the pulp collector container. Then you need to simply throw the bag away rather than cleaning the pulp collector each time you use your Power Juicer.

How to Protect Your Home

how to protect your homeYour home is your biggest investment, and your most precious items, including your family, are kept inside it. You want your home to be secure and here’s how.

A Professional Security System

Have a professional come to your home to consult with you about a security system. A system can be as simple as wiring the windows and doors so you know when one opens to a system of motion activated cameras and sensors. A security system uses a keypad that lets you set the alarm in the evenings and while you are away. If a door is opened, the alarm will trigger, but a quick code will stop it.

Security Monitoring

If the alarm is triggered, but the intruder doesn’t have your code, the system will continue blaring letting neighbors know something is amiss. You can also have your security system monitored by a company. With security monitoring, a company will call your home after a set amount of time following an ongoing alarm. If you turn the alarm off in less than two minutes, the company will assume you are present and all is well. If, however, the alarm goes on for more than two minutes, the company will call your home.

If there has been some sort of honest mistake you can let the company know and they may be able to stop the alarm remotely with a pin or password. But if you don’t answer the phone or claim you need assistance, the monitoring company will immediately alert authorities to come to your home and investigate.

Outside Protection

Some of the best ways to protect your home are to keep intruders well away from it. A privacy fence and locking gate will help to provide a buffer around your home. Backdoors and sliding doors are often less protected than front doors, so a locking gate will help to keep intruders away from these more vulnerable access points.

A camera and intercom system at your front door will allow you to see visitors before you approach the front door. The intercom will allow you to speak to them without having to crack the front door which might allow an intruder to force his way inside. Driveway alarms can signal when a car or person has entered your property giving you time to inspect your visitor for any suspicious signs.

Vigilance

Even the best security system is worthless if you fail to use it correctly. Set your alarm, maintain your monitoring service, and be sure you always close and lock all gates, windows and doors. Keep your car doors locked as well as these are easy access points and be sure to periodically test your alarm as well as all locks to see if anything has come loose or broken.
